Our Values - Catch The Wave

Catch The Wave Events

Values are the shared beliefs and ideas that each of us model or live here at St. Mark and in our community.

LOVE
“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength:  this is the first commandment.  And the second is like, namely this, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.  There is none other commandment greater than these.”
Mark 12, verses 30 & 31

CARING

As the caring family of St. Mark, we treat both members and visitors with genuine warmth, openly showing courtesy, respect and kindness.

“To sum up:  be one in thought and feeling, all of you; be full of brotherly affection, kindly and humble minded.  Do not repay wrong with wrong, or abuse with abuse; on the contrary, retaliate with blessing, for a blessing is the inheritance to which you yourselves Have been called.”

1st Peter 3, verses 8 & 9

SPIRITUALITY
To portray spirituality, we seek to be people of credibility, honesty and integrity thru God’s love as we model in word and deed…faith, trust and forgiveness.

“Go forth therefore and make nations my disciples; baptize men everywhere in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all that I have commanded you. And be assured, I am with you always, to the end of time.”  Matthew 28:19 & 20
“Repentance and forgiveness will be preached in His name to all nations.”  Luke 24:47

HUMILITY
Following Jesus’ example as he humbled himself in washing the feet of His disciples, we celebrate the unique spirit in each of God’s children, enthusiastically extending the hand of friendship and understanding to all who cross our path.  (We accept everyone as they are!)

“For greatest among you must be your servant.  For whoever exalts himself will be humbled; and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”

Matthew 23:11 & 12

“ Humble yourselves before God and he will lift you high.”

James 4:10

SERVICE

We remember Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross by generously giving back a portion of God’s blessings, accomplishing with commitment and excellence the works of service that He planned for us before we were born.

“With unflagging energy, in ardor of spirit, serve the Lord.”  Romans 12:11

“Give the cheerful service of those who serve the Lord, not men.  For you know that whatever good each man may do, slave or free, will be repaid him by the Lord.”
Ephesians 6:7 & 8

TEAMWORK

Involving all who wish to contribute, we build collaborative ministry teams that encourage a sense of unity and belonging, with actions and outcomes that are driven by clear purpose, accountability to each other and obedience to God.

“{You are} built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone.”
Ephesians 2:20

“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.  There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called – one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”
Ephesians 4:3-6

CHANGE

Just as Jesus came to institute radical change, our ministry vision motivates us to learn, plan, adapt and grow so that we may increase our ability to influence our world in a Godly way.

“…since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.  Christ is all, and is in all.”
Colossians 3:9-11
